SP Services warns of scam calls
Some SP Services customers say they have received phone calls claiming that their utilities accounts are in arrears or that their electricity meters require change.
SINGAPORE: Scammers are pretending to be SP Services staff on the phone, and trying to trick people into transmitting money to them.
The utilities service provider said in an advisory on Friday (Jul 8) that it has been alerted by customers that they have received phone calls claiming that their utilities accounts are in arrears, or that their electricity meters require change. The customers were also asked to make payments to a designated bank account.
SP Services said these calls are not from them and that recipients should ignore these requests. It has filed a police report over the matter.
Those who receive such calls and have queries can contact SP Services at 1800 222 2333 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
