Singapore often referred to as the Lion City, the Garden City, and the Red Dot, is a global city and sovereign state in Southeast Asia and the world’s only island city-state. It lies one degree (137 km) north of the equator, below the southernmost tip of continental Asia and peninsular Malaysia, with Indonesia’s Riau Islands to the south. Singapore’s territory consists of a diamond-shaped main island along with 62 other islets. Since independence, extensive land reclamation has increased its total size by 23% (130 km2), and its greening policy has covered the densely populated island with tropical flora, parks and gardens.
Singapore’s average daily temperature range has a minimum, usually not falling below, 23-25ºC during the night and maximum, not rising above, 31-33ºC during the day.
Singapore has kept its title of the world’s most expensive city to live in for many years. That’s including the housing, car and luxury items. However, eating in Singapore is quite reasonable, with the hawker centers, one can also find some free activities during the week-ends. Singapore is often shown as a little dot on maps, but there are so many things to explore, I believe even most Singaporeans have not discovered every corner.
Singapore is also one of the financial hubs in Asia, because we are an honest and diligent nation. We even have one of the busiest city airports in the world. Singapore’s crime rate is so low that many shops don’t even lock up.
